GREETING
Priest:
In the name of the Father (+)
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
All : Amen.
Priest:
Praise be to God
our Father,
who raised Jesus Christ
from the dead.
Blessed be God forever.
All :
Blessed be God forever.
Priest:
My dear friends,
we have gathered here today
to remember
our brother/sister (N...)
who left us (Months / Years) ago.
Although separated in the body,
we are united in our hearts.
The love that we bear for (N...)
can never be erased.
As we pray for (N...),
let us also pray
that the pain and grief
of our hearts
may gradually give way
to the peace and healing
that God's grace brings.
WORD OF GOD
A reading from
the first letter of St Paul
to the Thessalonians
(1 Thess 4:13-18)
We do not want you
to be uninformed,
brothers and sisters,
about those
who have fallen asleep,
so that you may not
grieve like the rest,
who have no hope.
For if we believe that
Jesus died and rose,
so too will God,
through Jesus,
bring with him
those who have
fallen asleep.
Indeed, we tell you this,
on the word of the Lord,
that we who are alive,
who are left until
the coming of the Lord,
we will surely not precede
those who have
fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself,
with a word of command,
with the voice of an archangel
and the trumpet of God,
will come down from heaven
and the dead in Christ
will rise first.
Thus we shall always
be with the Lord.
Therefore, console one another
with these words.
The Word of the Lord.
All : Thanks be to God.
PSALM (25: 1-10)
In you I trust,
let me not be
put to shame,
let not my enemies
exult over me.
No one who waits for You
shall be put to shame,
those shall be
put to shame
who heedlessly break faith.
Your ways, O Lord,
make known to me;
teach me Your paths;
guide me in Your truth
and teach me,
for You are God
my saviour,
and for You
I wait all the day.
Remember that
Your compassion,
O Lord,
and Your kindness
are from of old.
The sins of my youth
and my frailties
remember not;
in Your kindness
remember me,
because of Your goodness,
O Lord.
Good and upright
is the Lord;
thus He shows sinners
the way.
He guides the humble
to justice,
he teaches the humble
His way.
All:
The paths of the Lord
are kindness and constancy
toward those
who keep His covenant
and His decrees.
For Your name's sake, O Lord,
You will pardon my guilt,
great as it is.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
INTERCESSIONS
Priest:
My dear friends,
we acknowledge Christ
as the Lord,
through whom we hope
that our lowly bodies
will be made like His in glory,
for He is our life
and resurrection.
Christ, Son of the living God,
who raised up Lazarus,
your friend, from the dead.
All :
Raise up to life
and glory the dead
whom You have redeemed
by Your precious Blood.
Christ, consoler of
those who mourn,
You dried the tears
of the family of Lazarus,
of the widow's son,
and the daughter of Jairus,
All :
Comfort those
who mourn for the dead.
Christ, Saviour,
destroy the reign of sin
in our earthly bodies,
so that just as through sin
we deserved punishment.
All :
Through You,
may we gain eternal life.
Christ, Redeemer,
look on those
who have no hope
because they do not know You,
All :
May they receive faith
in the resurrection
and in the life
of the world to come.
You revealed Yourself
to the blind man
who begged
for the light of his eyes,
All:
Show Your face
to the dead
who long to see Your light.
When our last earthly home
is dissolved.
All :
Give us a home,
not of earthly making,
but built of eternity in heaven.
Comfort us
who mourn the passing
of our loved one.
All :
May our sadness give way
to the hope of
being reunited with all
our departed loved ones
in the kingdom of heaven.
May all who grieve
and bear unspoken sorrow
in their hearts
find in You
solace and consolation.
All :
May they experience
an abundance of
Your comfort and healing.
Priest:
Let us now pray together
in the way that
Our Lord Jesus taught us.
THE LORD'S PRAYER &
THE ANGELIC SALUTATION
All:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you amongst women
and blessed is the
fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
CONCLUSION
Let us conclude our service
with the Prayer of Peace
inspired by St Francis of Assisi.
All:
Lord, make me
an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred,
let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith:
where there is despair, hope:
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled
as to console:
to be understood
as to understand:
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving
that we receive;
it is in pardoning
that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying
that we are born
to eternal life.
Amen.
Priest:
We beg you, Lord,
let the fiery yet
gentle power of your love
take possession of our souls
and snatch them away
from everything under heaven.
All:
That we may die
for love your love,
as you saw fit
to die for love of our love.
Priest:
May the Lord,
the Bestower of Peace,
bless us, the Father
and the Son
and the Holy Spirit.
All :
Amen.
We adore you,
most holy Lord Jesus Christ,
here and all your churches
throughout the world
and we bless you
because by your holy Cross,
you have redeemed the world.
BLESSING
Priest:
May the Lord
bless you and keep you.
All : Amen.
Priest:
May He show his face to you
and have mercy on you.
All : Amen.
Priest:
May He turn His countenance
to you and give you peace.
All : Amen.
Priest:
May Almighty God bless you,
the Father (+) and the Son
and the Holy Spirit.
All : Amen.
