GREETING
Priest:
In the name of the Father (+)
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
All : Amen.
Priest:
When the goodness
and loving-kindness
of God our Saviour
appeared, He saved us,
not because of any works
of righteousness
that we had done.
All :
He saved us
according to His mercy,
through the water
of rebirth and renewal
by the Holy Spirit.
Priest:
Praised be God,
the Source and Origin
of all creation.
All:
May the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit
be praised,
both now and for ever.
Priest:
Lord God,
we are gathered here this day
to commemorate
the earthly birthday
of our departed brother/sister (N...).
May our gathering
be a reminder
of all the gifts and blessings
that he/she had received
from You during his/her lifetime
and for which
we give You
thanks and praise.
May our coming together
also be an occasion for us
to gather as family and friends,
bound by love
and mutual support.
Let Your presence
remain with us, Lord,
until the time
when we will be
reunited with (N...)
in the everlasting happiness
of Your kingdom,
where You live
forever and ever.
All : Amen.
WORD OF GOD
A reading from
the letter to Titus.
(Titus 2: 11, 13; 3:4-7)
The grace of God
has appeared,
bringing salvation to all,
while we wait
for the blessed hope
and the manifestation
of the glory
of our great God
and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
When the goodness
and loving-kindness
of God our Saviour appeared,
he saved us,
not because of
any works of righteousness
that we had done,
but according to his mercy,
through the water
of rebirth and renewal
by the Holy Spirit.
This Spirit he poured out
on us richly through
Jesus Christ our Saviour,
so that, having been
justified by his grace,
we might become heirs
according to the
hope of eternal life.
The word of the Lord.
All : Thanks be to God.
PSALM 22
Priest:
Since my mother bore me
You have been my God
Yet it was You
who took me
from the womb;
You kept me safe
on my mother's breast.
On You l was cast
from my birth,
and since my mother
bore me
You have been my God.
Do not be far from me,
for trouble is near
and there is no one to help.
All the ends of the earth
shall remember
and turn to the Lord;
and all the families
of the nations
shall worship before Him.
To Him, indeed,
shall all who sleep
in the earth bow down;
before Him shall bow
all who go down
to the dust,
and I shall live for Him.
Posterity will serve Him;
future generations
will be told
about the Lord,
and proclaim
His deliverance
All :
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
INTERCESSIONS
Priest:
The Lord Jesus
is the lover of His people
and our only sure hope.
Let us ask Him
to deepen our faith
and sustain us
in this difficult time.
Let our response be :
Lord hear our prayer.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
Let us pray for (N...),
his/her family and friends
and for all God's people.
Let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
For (N...), child of God
and heir to the kingdom,
that he/she be held securely
in God's loving embrace
now and for all eternity.
Let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
For (N...)'s family,
that they feel
the healing power of Christ
in the midst
of their pain and grief.
Let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
For the whole Church,
that we prepare worthily
for the hour of our death,
when God will call us
by name to pass
from this world to the next.
Let us pray to the Lord.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
Priest:
Lord God,
You entrusted (N...)
to our care
and now You embrace
him/her in Your love.
Take (N...) into Your keeping
together with all children
who have died.
Comfort us,
Your sorrowing servants,
who seek to do Your will
and to know
Your saving peace.
We ask this
through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER &
THE ANGELIC SALUTATION
Priest:
As God's children,
let us now
pray together
in Jesus' words.
All:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you amongst women
and blessed is the
fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
