can never be erased.

As we pray for (N...)

WORD OF GOD

A reading from

the second letter of St Paul

to the Corinthians

(Cor 5:1, 6-9)

For we know that

if the earthly tent we live in

is destroyed,

we have a building from God,

a house not made with hands,

eternal in the heavens.

So we are always confident;

even though we know that

while we are at home

in the body,

we are far away

from the Lord -

for we walk by faith,

not by sight.

Yes, we do not

have confidence,

and we would rather

be away from the body

and at home with the Lord.

Therefore, whether we are

at home or away,

let us make it our aim

to please him.

The word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

PSALM (42:1-2, 7-11)

for running streams;

so my soul

is yearning for you,

my God.

thirsting for God,

the God of my life;

when can I enter

and see the face of God?

in the roar of the waters,

your torrents

and all your waves

swept over me.

the Lord will send

his loving kindness;

by night

I will sing to him;

praise the God of my life.

my rock;

"Why have You forgotten me?

Why do I go mourning,

pierce me to the heart,

my enemies revile me,

saying to me

all the day long,

"Where is your God?"

my soul,

why groan within me?

Hope in God,

I will praise him still,

my Saviour and my God.

All :

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

(All may light their candles

as a sign of remembrance)

We believe that our Lord

who is the Light of the World

has conquered

the darkness of

sin and of death.

We believe that

in His overflowing love,

he brings all people

to Himself.

Let us pray

to our God for (N...)

for ourselves,

and for all

who commemorate

his/her passing.

As we pray to the Lord,

let our response be:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

All:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

For (N...), that he/she

may enter the everlasting home

that God has prepared

for all of us in heaven;

we pray to the Lord.

All:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

For those who grieve,

that God may console them

and restore them one day

to the fullness of relationship

with one another,

with their friends,

and with the community;

we pray to the Lord.

All:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

For all who have

gone before us,

that God may grant

the fullness of life

and joy forever,

we pray to the Lord.

All:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

For ourselves and

for all God's children

everywhere,

that we may be

a true family

in which we help one another

to grow in faith,

hope and love;

we pray to the Lord.

All:

Lord of Life, we trust in you.

Let us now pray together

in the way that

Our Lord Jesus taught us.

THE LORD'S PRAYER &

THE ANGELIC SALUTATION

All:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth

as it is in heaven.

Give us this day

our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those

who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with you.

Blessed are you amongst women

and blessed is the

fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

CONCLUSION

Priest:

God of love and mercy,

with faith in Your Son

and in fellowship

with one another,

we commend (N...)

Your son/daughter

to your care.

Though we are saddened

by his/her passing,

we look forward

to that day

when the pain of separation,

sorrow and death

will give way

to a joyful reunion

in your kingdom.

We ask this through

Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

(The leader sprinkles

the niche with holy water

as a sign of our God

whose love purifies us

and gives us new life)

name of the Lord:

and the souls of all

the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God,

rest in peace.

All : Amen.
